We're proud sponsors of the Memorial Flame at Hendon

Metfriendly have proudly sponsored the Memorial Flame at Hendon Regional Learning Centre since its inception in 2016.

As you may already know, the Metropolitan Police Service has a Book of Remembrance on display at New Scotland Yard alongside an eternal flame. A second book has also been on display for many years at Peel Centre, Hendon - the home of Metropolitan Police Training.

The book is an incredibly important part of the Metropolitan Police history and heritage, recognising those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of London's communities. The pages are being turned each day to ensure we recall those brave individuals who are sadly no longer with us.

In 2016, the Peel Centre at Hendon underwent significant transformation with a brand new state of the art training facility being constructed.

The then Operational Command Unit Commander of Met Training, Chief Superintendent Craig Haslam, now a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Metfriendly, was committed to ensuring the new Peel Centre did not lose sight of the Met's important history, traditions and heritage, including the installation of a modern Book of Remembrance.

To achieve this Craig worked closely with the senior leadership team at Metfriendly. Both parties played a pivotal role by sponsoring the Remembrance Book project, without which the funds would simply not have been available to secure a new and modern way of remembering the fallen officers.

As a result, a modern holographic Book of Remembrance with an eternal flame now takes pride of place in the foyer area of Simpson Hall, Hendon. The interactive touch screen allows you to search for every officer who has lost their life whilst serving the people of London and includes the date and circumstance of their death.

The new installation receives praise from families and friends when they gather to remember our fallen colleagues at the Annual Service of Remembrance at Hendon.

The Metropolitan Police and Metfriendly are proud to have been involved in this joint project to create a truly special and unique feature that ensures we will never forget the sacrifices of those officers who were sadly taken from us far too soon.
